Nuria Borrasca, which is impacting the archipelago this Thursday, has resulted in several minor incidents within the municipality of La Laguna, primarily affecting the road network.
The wind began to pick up around midday, leading to the falling of large branches that obstructed roads such as the Tejina highway and the Argentine Republic. Both have now been reopened to traffic following intervention from parks and gardens staff.
On San Antonio Street, a tree that had lost its upright position and posed a risk of falling prompted the swift removal of a vehicle parked by a municipal crane. Following this, a team from parks and gardens proceeded to remove the tree, restoring normalcy to the road.
On Wednesday afternoon, the City Council of La Laguna proactively activated the Cecopal as part of the Municipal Emergency Plan (PEMU) to ensure the availability of technical and human resources in response to the high wind warning issued by the General Emergency Department of the Canary Islands Government.
The Cecopal remains active and the City Council is urging citizens to exercise extreme caution and adhere to official guidance while the alert situation persists.
