The City of La Laguna is set to launch this weekend a new area for free parking on Avenida de la Libertad, situated in the San Miguel de Chimisay neighbourhood, within the vicinity of Los Majuelos. This initiative will enable approximately one hundred slots for free access.
This launch forms part of a municipal strategy aimed at developing fresh parking facilities across various locations in the municipality, taking into account identified needs in urban areas with high traffic congestion or elevated parking demand. The new space is positioned strategically within the district, marked by the presence of shops, residences, and essential services.
According to the City Council, the planning of the project has involved an assessment of available land and sites that can be converted for this purpose, as well as the execution of necessary works for its adaptation.
The Municipal Corporation emphasises that such spaces are designed to enhance pedestrian access to residential, commercial, and points of interest within the municipality, providing parking alternatives that diminish traffic associated with searching for parking on public thoroughfares.
Throughout this term, comparable initiatives have been completed in other areas of the municipality such as Bajamar, San Miguel de Chimisay, El Cardonal, Camino La Rúa, El Sobradillo, Los Andes, San Miguel de Geneto, Tejina, Camino La Villa, and regions close to the historic centre, where vehicle flow remains consistent throughout the year.
