Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 2 Apr. (Press Europa) –
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, has called on Wednesday for a “calm and constructive dialogue” regarding the potential enlargement of the port of Los Cristianos, one of the options suggested by the latest report from the College of Engineers of Roads, Canals and Ports.
In a press briefing to discuss the decisions made by the Governing Council, she stated that the study is “excellent” and will assist in decision-making to ensure that Los Cristianos, which “historically has not received the investment it warranted”, can provide the best maritime transport service to the ‘green islands’.
Dávila concurred with the mayor, Fatima Lemes (PP), who has called for calm and dialogue with all stakeholders involved to ensure the best decision is reached, as it will impact not only the municipality of Arona but the entire island.
The president chastised the previous island administration for adopting a “low profile” over the past four years and insisted that her government has chosen to move forward with “action” based on this independent study of alternatives conducted by engineers.
“Based on this data, decisions can be made, which will always be reached consensually with the municipalities and, of course, with the residents,” she remarked.
