The Municipality of Tacoronte has taken action on Tuesday morning to close the Teobaldo Power street bridge following the appearance of cracks of various sizes on the sides of the structure. This decision was made in line with guidance from municipal technical services and aims to ensure safety in the vicinity.
Positioned over the Granados ravine, the bridge is situated not far from the town hall. After detecting the cracks, a complete lockdown of the surrounding area was enacted, barring access to both vehicles and pedestrians. This urgent response has been implemented while awaiting essential measures for its future reopening.
The Urban Planning Department will now commence the evaluation and expert analysis of the site. Planned actions will encompass several tests intended to ascertain the extent of the damage to the roadway.
Simultaneously, in coordination with the Insular Water Council, necessary interventions will be initiated to stabilise the bridge, allowing for the restoration of this crossing in the heart of the municipality.

For alternative connections between Santa Catalina and the Plaza del Cristo, the council reminds residents that it is possible to travel on foot via the Hoya Machado or the road park by taking Calvario Street, V Centenario Avenue, and the Tacoronte-Tejina road.
Educational institutions in the area have already been notified of the situation to assist students in adapting to the temporary alterations brought about by this measure.
