The largest cruise built in Italy arrives at the port of Santa Cruz Tenerife

The Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is graced by the presence of the Sun Princess, one of the most advanced and eco-friendly cruise ships globally. This maritime giant, operated by Canarship and registered under the Bermudan flag, makes a scheduled stop at the island, as reported by Tenerife ports.

Measuring 345 metres in length, with a beam of 50 metres and a gross tonnage of 177,882, the Sun Princess not only captivates with its sheer size but also with its cutting-edge technology.

This vessel is the first in the Princess Cruises fleet to be powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), a fuel that notably diminishes harmful emissions, positioning the ship as a landmark in environmental sustainability.

With tanks capable of holding 4,000 cubic metres of LNG, the ship achieves nearly nine days of operational autonomy without reliance on conventional fuel sources.

Constructed by the Italian shipyard Fincantieri and delivered in February 2024, the Sun Princess stands as the largest cruise ship ever built in Italy. Its design belongs to the Sphere class, a new generation of vessels that merges luxury, energy efficiency, and unparalleled experiences for guests.

This cruise liner has the capacity to accommodate 4,300 passengers across 2,157 cabins, which include 50 suites and 100 interconnecting cabins, perfect for families. Additionally, it boasts the largest number of balcony cabins in the entire Princess Cruises fleet, ensuring breathtaking views from almost every location on board.

Among its architectural highlights is The Dome, a versatile structure that features a pool during daylight hours and transforms into a venue for nighttime performances.

Guests can also indulge in over 29 bars and exclusive dining establishments, including the renowned Crown Grill and Alfredo’s Pizzeria, alongside unique experiences such as the Discovery AT Sea™ programme and outdoor cinema under the stars.
