Santa Cruz de Tenerife 31 Mar. (Europa Press) –
Maritime rescue operations successfully retrieved two pateras carrying 107 migrants on Monday, situated approximately 16 kilometres (10 nautical miles) south of the island of El Hierro, as stated by the official organisation.
The operation, directed by the Rescue Control Centre (CCS) in Tenerife, was initiated following a report from the Civil Guard about receiving two seismic signals.
Subsequently, the vessels Salvamares Adhara and Acrux were deployed from the CCS. After identifying the boats, which had 66 individuals of Sub-Saharan origin and 41 from the Maghreb respectively, they escorted them to the dock of La Restinga, where medical assistance was provided to the migrants in the area.
