Santa Cruz de Tenerife 30 Mar. (Europa Press) –
The General Emergency Department of the Canary Islands Government has issued an alert for rainfall, commencing at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, in the Eastern sector of La Palma.
According to the forecasts, exceptionally heavy rainfall is anticipated, manifesting as showers with an intensity equal to or exceeding 30 mm in an hour, up until 03:00 hours on Monday. Iron, La Gomera, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria will remain under a state of Prealert.
After 03.00 on Monday, the eastern region of La Palma, as well as El Hierro, La Gomera, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria, will remain in prealert status for rainfall due to the likelihood of locally heavy showers with an intensity of 15 mm or more within an hour.
This decision has been made based on information from the State Meteorology Agency and other relevant sources, in line with the specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands regarding risks related to adverse weather conditions (PEFMA).
The Regional Department is advising the public to adhere to the self-protection recommendations provided by the General Emergency Directorate.
