Santa Cruz de Tenerife 29 Mar. (Europa Press) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has sanctioned a new round of grants for this year, allocating a financial contribution of 150,000 euros, intended to ensure veterinary clinical assistance for livestock farms, including cattle, rabbit farming, pig farming, beekeeping, and sheep farming.
This grant consists of two primary action lines: firstly, it aims to support livestock health defence groups in the implementation of preventive health initiatives, and secondly, to secure clinical veterinary services for beef farms, as outlined by the council in a press announcement.
Consequently, the first action line seeks to cover the operational and management costs of the island’s livestock health defence groups.
Conversely, the second action line will facilitate the funding of non-tangible expenses incurred through the engagement of veterinarians or the provision of veterinary services for any of the island’s cattle farms, ensuring that animals receive the requisite clinical assistance.
This provision encompasses urgent actions such as routine diagnostic and therapeutic measures, which aim to address the current lack of available options.
In summary, this aid programme is designed to implement the health programme that involves hiring personnel and contracting veterinary and pharmaceutical services, among others, as well as the engagement of clinical veterinary services on Vacuna de Tenerife farms.
“This initiative aims to address the critical situation facing the livestock sector in Tenerife, characterised by a shortage of specialised veterinary personnel, as well as the challenges related to renewing the animal census, particularly within the beef sub-sector,” remarked Valentín González, the area’s councillor.
