Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 27 Mar. (Europa Press) –
The head of the Canarian Health Service (SCS), Carlos Díaz, has once again failed to attend a meeting of the Health Commission of the Parliament of the Canary Islands during this legislative period. This matter has been raised by President Gustavo Santana (PSOE), who has brought it to the attention of the Regional Government’s Minister of Health, Esther Monzón.
President Santana expressed her “astonishment” at Carlos Díaz’s absence, noting that no prior notification was given. She questioned why the Ministry has not appointed someone else to attend, emphasising that it is “extremely inconvenient” for parliamentary groups to prepare for an appearance that ultimately does not occur.
“I mention this to you, but it can also be applied to the entire government because if this continues, parliamentary groups and members themselves may perceive that the political responsibility they bear in this matter is being somewhat diminished,” she stated to the Minister, as the task of overseeing is becoming increasingly challenging for the Executive.
The socialist deputy Miguel Ángel Pérez del Pino has condemned the government’s “lack of decorum” for failing to acknowledge the request for Carlos Díaz to discuss his involvement, along with the Director General of Human Resources, in the process of personnel stabilisation. He highlighted that in cases of absence before the Investigative Committee, the Chamber has previously involved the Prosecutor’s Office.
