The City Council of Tegueste has expressed its “strongest and most absolute abhorrence” towards the violent act perpetrated against the dog known as ‘Boli’, whose head was discovered by its family at the entrance of their home on the General Punta Hidalgo road, No. 326.

The animal welfare department, led by Julián Rodríguez Pérez, has released an official statement denouncing the incident and reaffirming the council’s dedication to the protection and welfare of animals.

“We cannot condone any form of animal cruelty within our municipality or beyond,” states the declaration, which also extends solidarity to the affected family and urges citizens to report any instances of abuse.

The incident was shared on social media by prominent animal advocate Christ Gil, who posted images of the case with the consent of the pet’s family. As he explained, the owners of ‘Boli’ wish to bring the matter to public attention following their report against the alleged perpetrator.

“It is one of the most horrific images I have encountered over the years,” said Gil, recalling how the family found their pet’s head without any sign of the body: “Imagine coming home and discovering your dog’s head at the door while the body is missing … I was left in shock.”

The activist noted that the family themselves have requested that the images go viral so that “justice is served” and added: “To be honest, I am at a loss for words regarding the horrors inflicted upon animals in these islands.”

The animal welfare department reminded the public that Tegueste has established resources for reporting incidents of abuse and for animal protection. Residents are also encouraged to provide any information that may assist in the investigation.
