Santa Cruz de Tenerife 26 Mar. (Europa Press) –
The Governing Council of the University of La Laguna approved the academic calendar for the 2025/26 academic year on Wednesday. This will commence on 9 September, with the day prior designated as a welcome day for new students. The first semester will therefore run until 19 December 2025, while the second semester will span from 26 January to 15 May 2026.
Teaching will conclude on 15 May, following which examinations will take place, similar to the conclusion of the first semester, occurring from 8 to 19 January. Doctoral studies are set to begin on 17 October 2025 and continue until 16 October 2026.
During Wednesday’s Governing Council meeting, a partial amendment to the regulation governing the Programme for Supporting Students with Specific Educational Needs was discussed. This adjustment introduces more flexibility regarding the selection of tutors for these students, depending on the designations by each centre, as stated in a press release from the institution.
Nevertheless, prior experience or training in this area is a requirement for the instructional staff. This is a minor revision of a document that had previously undergone a more comprehensive reassessment in December, according to the university.
The Student Vice Chancellor, Rosario Hernández, clarified that this is a voluntary programme for students, allowing them to utilise programme resources as often as necessary, or not at all. Each student is required to renew their participation in this initiative annually, as their circumstances may have changed.
Additionally, the session today saw the approval of a modification to the regulation, specifying the criteria for accessing extraordinary registration. It now clarifies that this will not be granted in undergraduate subjects for which normal registration has already been completed during the same academic year.
The Student Vice Chancellor also presented a modification to the regulation addressing certain details pertaining to the equivalences of foreign qualifications.
