Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 26 Mar. (Europa Press) –
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, stated on Wednesday that she anticipates “normal communication” with the City of Granadilla following the motion of no confidence initiated by CC, PP, and Vox against its mayor, Jennifer Miranda (PSOE). She noted that maintaining a dialogue with the municipal leader has been “impossible to sustain in recent years with the insular corporation.”
During a press briefing regarding government council agreements, Dávila emphasised that “the sensible approach” is for “dialogue to occur,” seeking “points of accord and consensus,” but lamented that all of this “has been unfeasible” under the current leadership of the Granadilla City Council. Consequently, she expressed hope that after the no-confidence motion, “normal and regular dialogue” would be reinstated, irrespective of “its political affiliation.”
In relation to matters impacting the municipality and the island, such as the declaration of South Tenerife airport “as a sensitive area,” she remarked that collaboration has continued with “the Cooperativa de Granadilla itself,” which, in the Insular President’s view, indicates that “it was the mayor herself who facilitated relations, demonstrating an intent surpassing her own municipality’s interests.”
“It hindered any attempt at dialogue and the promotion of activity and development in Granadilla,” she added.
Additionally, when asked about a previous occasion where she urged the City Council to progress with the acquisition of the plot where Hotel La Tejita, funded by municipal treasury, is located, Dávila was unable to clarify, at this point, the current stance of the Insular Cabildo regarding that proposal, as she was unaware of “the condition and willingness” concerning the ownership of the land at present.
