The Department of Social Welfare of the City of La Laguna has announced in the Official Gazette of the Province the initiation of social assistance aimed at aiding the payment of the Real Estate Tax (IBI) for permanent residences. The timeframe for submitting applications will be one month, with the maximum subsidisable amount set at 300 Euros.
The councillor in charge, María Cruz (PSOE), stated yesterday that “this aid will primarily target individuals and families with limited financial means who face challenges in managing these yearly expenses, covering 100% of the fee paid in the prior year.”
The mayor emphasised that “this support represents a significant relief for the economic wellbeing of many households with low income levels, which can also be supplemented by various support programmes that we continue to operate to address different cases of special vulnerability.”
Those interested may apply at the General Registry of the City Council of La Laguna, in the decentralised offices of the mayor’s holdings, or via the electronic portal accessible at www.aytolalaguna.es. The total amount of assistance for the IBI payment will be aligned with the established provisions and allocated from the budgetary resources specified in the annual budgets of the City Council of La Laguna.
The necessary documentation to submit includes the completed application form, a photocopy of the IBI head, proof of registration for third-party payments, and documentation to validate the socioeconomic situation pertinent to each specific case (including pensioners, self-employed individuals, employees, the unemployed, students over 16, etc.).
The social assistance will be realised through a compensation file reflecting the pending IBI amount due for payment in the year subsequent to the application.
