Santa Cruz de Tenerife 25 Mar. (Europa Press) –
Officers from the National Police have apprehended an individual accused of sexually assaulting a Belgian tourist during the early hours of February in Costa Adeje.
The victim, a 47-year-old woman, sought assistance in an establishment, claiming she had been sexually assaulted in a street in Tenerife, as outlined by the National Police in a statement.
Following the report, the officers secured the crime scene, collecting biological evidence that could prove vital to the investigation, and the victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance for essential medical examinations.
The inquiries enabled the reconstruction of events, revealing that the victim had interacted with three men around 01:00 in a restaurant in the southern part of Tenerife.
Approximately thirty minutes later, she consented to ride a motorcycle with one of them, who took her to a dimly lit dead-end street, where, according to her account, she was violently assaulted.
Following the attack, the assailant fled on his motorcycle, leaving behind evidence that was crucial to the investigation.
After weeks of diligent effort, the officers were able to identify the suspect, thanks to the investigation results and the victim’s description, particularly a vividly coloured tattoo on his hand.
Consequently, in early March, the alleged perpetrator, a 21-year-old man with no prior criminal history, was located, arrested, and presented to the relevant judicial authority.
