Zebenzuí González, the Secretary of the PSOE in Puerto de la Cruz, has lodged a complaint with the National Police regarding alleged threats and harassment by the first deputy mayor and a councillor associated with the Portuense Citizen Assembly (ACP).
The PSOE highlights in a statement that the incident took place on San Felipe Street, close to Plaza del Charco, when González was in the company of his wife and two witnesses. Hernandez, “in an agitated state,” confronted him with insults and threats.
The Puerto de la Cruz PSOE expresses its “full backing” for the Secretary of Organisation, condemning the events and asserting that such behaviour “should not be used as a political weapon.”
“All boundaries are surpassed when one is insulted, threatened, and demeaned in public, especially when this disgraceful conduct arises from someone in a governmental position,” they remarked.
Furthermore, the PSOE of Puerto de la Cruz commends the two witnesses who intervened, aiding the Secretary of Organisation and his wife to ensure that the verbal aggression did not escalate into a physical confrontation, prompting them to seek refuge in a nearby commercial establishment.
The PSOE reiterates its commitment to opposing any forms of violence or threats, be they physical or verbal, directed towards anyone, regardless of their political stance, to uphold the integrity of Article 16 of the Constitution.
Consequently, they align with their affiliates and supporters in “condemning any potential physical and verbal provocation that may arise from this councillor in the future.” Should the complaint proceed to the Court of Instruction, it may lead to a ruling for a minor offence or, considering the impact on González and his wife’s wellbeing, prompt further investigations.
