The city of La Laguna will host the third edition of the Japan World Festival, which will focus its primary programming from 20th to 23rd March, featuring activities related to cinema, music, cuisine, martial arts, and other aspects of Japanese culture.
The event will take place in various locations throughout the municipality, including the former Santo Domingo convent, the Leal Theatre, the Casino de la Laguna, and Adelantado Square.

The programme commenced on 10th March with the opening of the exhibition Fire by the artist Paul Hamanaka at the Santo Domingo convent, which will remain open until 22nd March. This exhibition blends tradition and contemporary elements in a collection of works that encapsulate the vision of the Japanese artist.
On 20th March, beginning at 5:00 p.m., the Santo Domingo convent will feature a Kimono workshop in the glass room, alongside an Ikebana workshop in the Chapter Room. At 7:00 p.m., a Japanese film will be screened.
On 21st March, at the same time, a Bonsai workshop will be conducted in the glass room, with another Shiatsu session taking place in the Chapter Room. A new Japanese film session will commence at 7:00 p.m.
The highlight of 22nd March will occur at Adelantado Square with numerous activities starting from 10:00 a.m. These will include an origami workshop, a photocall featuring kimonos, and martial arts demonstrations, showcasing Iaidô (11:00 a.m.), Kendô (11:30 a.m.), Taekwondo (12:00 p.m.), Eskrima (12:30 p.m.), Aikidô (1:00 p.m.), and Karate (1:30 p.m.). There will also be a Japanese calligraphy workshop (Shodô) at 11:00 a.m. and a manga session at 12:00 p.m.
From 1:00 p.m., participants will have the opportunity to engage in a Japanese riddle game and, at 2:00 p.m., will enjoy J-pop and K-pop. The day will culminate at 7:30 p.m. with an Asian rhythms DJ session hosted by Dave Jean at the Casino de la Laguna.
The Festival will draw to a close on 23rd March with a cooking workshop at 11:00 a.m. at the Casino de la Laguna, where the secrets of Japanese cuisine will be unveiled. The event will conclude with a concert by Satomi Morimoto & Friends at 7:30 p.m. at the Leal Theatre.
