San Sebastián de La Gomera, 20 Mar. (Europa Press) –
A 47-year-old man has passed away this Thursday following an assault with a bladed weapon near the port of Valle Gran Rey, in La Gomera, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre of the 112 in the Canary Islands.
Furthermore, sources from the Civil Guard, which is conducting an ongoing investigation, have confirmed to Europa Press that a suspect has been arrested, accused of committing a homicide.
The incident occurred at 03:01 on Thursday when personnel from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) and Primary Care confirmed that the victim, a resident of the municipality, had sustained a stab wound to the chest.
Despite the efforts made, they could only ascertain his passing.
The Town Hall of Valle Gran Rey has declared three days of official mourning in the community and expresses its sorrow and concern regarding this incident, alongside offering condolences, support, and warmth to all family and friends affected.
Accordingly, from noon on Thursday, the official mourning will commence, resulting in the suspension of all public events for the next three days, including the scheduled carnival activities for this weekend.
Additionally, the Town Council encourages the relevant authorities to act swiftly and effectively to clarify the circumstances surrounding this incident and to ensure that the perpetrator is brought to justice.
