The president of the Cabildo de El Hierro, Alpidio Armas (PSOE), has described the agreement to amend article 35 of the Law of Foreigners as “positive and historic” on Tuesday, asserting that as it is accomplished through a decree-law, “no community” can object.
In a statement issued by the Corporation, he remarked that the agreement “should have been reached a long time ago” but acknowledged the mediation of the Minister of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres, in securing the essential backing.
President Herreño is of the opinion that this redistribution will “alleviate the burden on the Canary Islands,” as the Royal Decree Law becomes “compulsory” once the number of minors each region is required to accommodate, based on the approved indicators, is determined.
