The Tenerife Fairground is set to host the ‘Gala of the Dial Awards’ this Thursday for its twentieth edition, with all tickets sold out since last Friday, and a tribute to the legendary Celia Cruz, with Lucrecia performing in her honour.
The announcement occurred this Monday in the prestigious hall of the Cabildo de Tenerife, attended by several prominent figures, including the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila; the vice president and Tourism advisor, Lope Afonso; the deputy director of Cadena Dial, Joaquín Hurtado; the gala’s presenter, Leire Martínez; Teidela’s Vice President, Hortensia Hernández; the regional director of SER in the Canary Islands, Lourdes Santana; and the CEO of Tourism of Tenerife, Dimple Melwani.
Rosa Dávila stated that this event “positions Tenerife as the capital of Spanish-language music, a genre that serves as the soundtrack for many people’s lives.”
She expressed gratitude to the network for “choosing Tenerife once again to host this significant gala, a tradition that takes place annually on the island,” of which Tenerife feels “immensely proud,” projecting the island’s image abroad.
Lope Afonso remarked that “this well-established gala is moving towards its third decade, with most editions having occurred on the island. It is a point of pride and a means to boost economic activity during these days, significantly enhancing our presence in the national market through the culture-tourism connection.”
He acknowledged that this year’s ‘Dial’ Awards “pay homage to the centenary of Celia Cruz’s birth, with a special in memoriam segment dedicated to the ‘Queen of Salsa’.”
“Her legacy in Tenerife is everlasting,” he continued, while expressing appreciation for the solidarity shown towards Teidela and its efforts against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Joaquín Hurtado highlighted that this edition includes “numerous surprises,” emphasising that “Dial’s connection with the presence of the brand in Tenerife is significant,” as “these awards have elevated this network as the benchmark for Spanish music.”
“We serve as the champions of our language, and we take pride in promoting a language spoken by millions through our music,” he stated.
Hortensia Hernández reinforced the support for Teidela and noted that “awareness of their work with ELA is crucial, and the social commitment of the Dial Awards in Tenerife must endure,” as the associates seek “year-round sensitivity.”
Leire Martínez Celebrates the Duets
On a different note, Leire Martínez shared that she has participated in various galas in Tenerife, and these awards help artists “begin remarkable stories and songs, as many iconic duets have emerged.”
Now, as the presenter, she expressed that it brings her “great joy to accompany so many colleagues in receiving these awards.”
Cadena Dial has already revealed the list of artists set to receive the Dial Tenerife award, including Manuel Carrasco, Dani Martín, Carlos Rivera, Amaral, Antonio Orozco, Rosario, Pablo López, Marta Santos, Edurne, Vanesa Martín, David DeMaría, Chenoa, Dani Fernández, Álex Ubago, Antoñito Molina, Bombai, and Estopa.
The event upholds its social responsibility by collaborating with Teidela, an NGO dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those affected by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ELA) and providing support for their families.
The awards will be in support of this organisation that advocates for improvements in all aspects related to the care of individuals with this illness in the Canary Islands, including research, regulations, as well as social and healthcare initiatives.
