El Hierro Airport has been honoured by the International Airport Council (ACI) as the ‘Best European Airport with less than 2 million passengers annually’ for the outstanding quality of the services it provides to its users.
Specifically, this marks the fourth consecutive year that the Herreño airfield has received this accolade, which is part of the Airport Quality (ASQ) programme, renowned as the most comprehensive and trustworthy in the aviation sector for assessing traveller experiences.
Furthermore, El Hierro Airport has consistently excelled in the ‘Easiest Airport Journey in Europe’ rankings, which highlight airports that enhance user comfort and whose navigation is simpler and more intuitive. It has also been recognised as the ‘Cleanest Airport in Europe’, acknowledging the cleanliness efforts maintained within its facilities to ensure high-quality passenger experiences.
Additionally, alongside Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport, it has been listed as one of the ten airports globally to feature in the ‘ACI World Director General’s Roll of Excellence’, which also includes airports from China, Oman, Denmark, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom.
This accolade recognises airports that have shown consistent excellence, having received multiple awards over the last decade, celebrating their dedication to outstanding service.
Gonzalo Delgado, the airport director, emphasises that the awards are “the result of the remarkable team of individuals that works at the airport” and serve as an “incentive to continue striving for excellence in the quality of the services provided to the users who pass through the facility on a daily basis.”
The awards ceremony is set to occur at the annual ‘ACI World Customer Experience Summit and Exhibition’, which will take place in Guangzhou (China) from 8th to 11th September 2025.
