Tenerife Sur Airport: Three Flights Redirected Due to Crosswinds

The occurrence of crosswinds or wind shear at Tenerife Sur airport resulted in three flight diversions on Thursday.

Two flights, one from Milan and the other from Edinburgh, were redirected to Tenerife Norte, while a third flight from Nuremberg diverted to Gran Canaria Airport, as reported by Aena sources to Efe.

Currently, there have been no other incidents reported at other airports throughout the Canary Islands, according to sources from Aena.

Wind shear refers to a sudden change in wind direction or speed that can hinder aircraft take-off and landing operations.

The Canary Islands are under an Aemet yellow alert for strong waves; however, there is no active warning for wind conditions.
