Santa Cruz de Tenerife 13 Mar. (Europa Press) –
The Parliament of the Canary Islands has rallied together this Thursday, with the sole opposition from Vox, to tackle the immigration crisis facing the islands by developing a comprehensive plan that enables effective immigration management.
This initiative is among the proposals for resolution put forward by the parties that support the Government, namely CC, PP, ASG, and Ah, during the final day of the ‘Debate on the state of nationality’. It was also agreed to urge the Spanish Government to secure sufficient EU funding to address the migration phenomenon.
Additionally, at the suggestion of the socialist parties and NC-BC, there has been an approval for the central government to advocate for the amendment of Article 35 of the Foreigners Law to facilitate the distribution of unaccompanied minor migrants among autonomous communities.
The socialists have only distanced themselves from the proposal put forth by the government-supporting groups, regarding the creation of an ‘own Africa plan’—they abstained from it—aimed at compensating for the archipelago’s lack of presence in the national strategy agreed upon until 2028.
