The Cabildo de Tenerife is organising 18 activities across the island this week.
Through the Environmental Participation and Volunteer Office, its aim is to enhance public awareness regarding the preservation of the environment.
Activities from 12th to 16th March
On Wednesday, 12th March, students from the IES the Labor and the Mar and Fishing Interpretation Centre of Tenerife will engage in an environmental itinerary and a waste collection.
This initiative is led by the International Cooperation Association in partnership with the educational institution and has support from the Coastal Action Group and La Laguna City Council.
On Thursday 13th, a cat tail control activity will occur in the Tahodio Ravine, organised by the Las Dominicas Centre and the Biodiversity Team of the Cabildo.
Furthermore, on Friday, 14th March, a talk and a repopulation activity featuring native species will be conducted by IES the Sobradillo as part of the renaturalisation project of Barranco La Nun and Ecobosques.
On Saturday, 15th March, there will be two project activities, namely Release 1m2 Ravines in El Rosario and Santa Cruz. The first activity will entail an itinerary and a waste collection in the Barros-Bosque Ravine at the Advanced.
This initiative is coordinated by the Terramare Association and Librara Campaign and is supported by the Metropolitan Consistory. Meanwhile, the activity in Santa Cruz will consist of a waste collection at Barranco El Buffero.
The endeavour is promoted by the Save the Planet Association and Librara Campaign, receiving collaboration from the Santa Cruz Sustainable Foundation.
Moreover, the recreational area of Las Calderetas (El Sauzal) will host a dual repopulation event with volunteers from Tenerife Bluetrail and staff from Leroy Merlin. Both activities have received support from the Forest Foundation and El Sauzal City Council.
On Sunday 16th, there will also be a project activity for Librara 1m2 Ravines in La Laguna, specifically involving a waste collection at Barranco Colino.
This activity is sponsored by the Club Montañeros de Nivaria, Insular Federation of Montañeros de Tenerife, FRIENDS ASSOCIATION BASTE GARCÍA and Librara Campaign, in collaboration with La Laguna City Council.
Ten Actions Implemented by Regenerate
On Sunday 16th March, Ten actions under the project Regenerate will be conducted, promoted by Tourism of Tenerife alongside the municipalities of Santa Cruz, La Laguna, La Victoria, La Guancha, El Sauzal, Puerto de la Cruz, La Matanza, Garachico, Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide.
This includes a waste cleaning and bird observation activity near the Pond of the Manisero (La Laguna), an itinerary in AFUR Ravine involving waste collection (Santa Cruz), and a Healthy Ecoruta and Sustainable Gardening initiative at El Pinar Park (La Victoria).
Additionally, there will be an itinerary to Charco del Viento for waste collection (La Guancha), a water itinerary in Los Lavaderos Park (El Sauzal), and a route through the Jardines del Puerto de la Cruz.
Moreover, an itinerary for La Naturaleza (La Matanza), a route from THE MOUNT TO THE HISTORICAL CASTLE (Garachico), a pathway through the Caserío Las Fuentes (Guía de Isora), and a tour of the Almendros en Flor (Santiago del Teide) are also planned.
