An 85-year-old gentleman has suffered from smoke inhalation following an explosion of a household appliance and a subsequent fire in a residence located in the municipality of Tenerife, as reported by the 1-1-2 Canary Islands.
The incident took place shortly after 11.00, when the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Canary Islands government received a notification from the Local Police regarding a fire within a home caused by the explosion of an appliance on El Pinar street.
The Tenerife Firefighters Consortium responded to the scene and, after extinguishing the flames, proceeded to ventilate the building.
Personnel from the Canarian Emergency Department (SUC) also arrived and attended to the man, who, during the initial assessment, exhibited moderate poisoning from smoke inhalation. He was subsequently transported by ambulance to the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria.
The Local Police handled the investigation.
