Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 10 Mar. (Europa Press) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has reopened all paths of the historic Teide-Pico stratovolcano as of Monday, following the completion of snow and ice clearance operations. Nevertheless, the institution has advised the public to exercise caution while traversing the trails.

In an announcement, the island authority urged residents to remain vigilant when travelling along the paths (www.tenfeon.es).

Consequently, for those looking to access paths No. 7 (specifically from the summit of the Blanca Mountain to its junction with viewpoint No. 11 at the fortress), No. 9 (the stretch connecting its junction with No. 32 Abeque to the terminus at No. 12 Viejo Mirador), No. 23 (the black ravines) and No. 28 (Chafarí), it is compulsory to make a reservation through the website.

Additionally, it has been highlighted that to gain access to path No. 10 Telesforo Bravo, which links the Rambler with the Teide Summit, a permit must be obtained via the National Parks Reserve Central (www.revasparquesnacional.es).

REQUIREMENTS

The island authority has noted that these specific paths present a high level of difficulty, rendering them unsuitable for individuals lacking experience in high-altitude environments or those with heart, respiratory, or mobility issues.

Therefore, individuals must wear long trousers (either post or backpack) and a thermal coat, along with specialised mountain footwear. It is also mandatory to carry water or hydrating liquids, a mobile phone, and a torch or headlamp with batteries (particularly if the activity takes place either in the late afternoon or early morning).

Moreover, it is advised that during winter months, carrying gloves and a hat is also essential.
