The Cabildo de Tenerife unveiled the Employment Fair ’10 years attracting talent’ on Monday. This initiative, organised through the Insular Canarian Foundation for Training, Employment and Business Development (FIFEDE), receives support from the Red Cross.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Tenerife fairgrounds on April 3, from 10 am to 4 pm, featuring over 80 companies and approximately a thousand participants.
The presentation held on Monday saw the attendance of the Minister of Employment and Education, Efraín Medina; the president of the Red Cross in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Heliodoro González; and the manager of FiFede, Elena de la Guardia, among others representing the Barrios project for employment.
Efraín Medina commenced his speech by expressing gratitude for the efforts of the FiFede staff and all entities involved in ‘Barrios for Employment’. He affirmed that the fair “serves as a genuine meeting point where employment is fostered, as the attending companies possess a job bank and come with the intention to recruit staff.”
Medina highlighted that this presents a remarkable opportunity “for all individuals actively searching for work” and mentioned that “one of the initiatives promoted by President Rosa Dávila is the enhancement of employment, and this fair is a key aspect of the efforts by the Cabildo to achieve these objectives.”
Heliodoro González expressed enthusiasm about organising ’10 years attracting talent’, attributing its success to its ability to connect companies with job seekers.
He noted that 40% of attendees from last year secured employment within three months following the fair.
Elena de la Guardia commended the contributions of the entire FiFede team and the ‘Neighborhoods for Employment’ entities “for putting together an event that has continually grown, and we hope for another successful outcome this time.”
In this context, about 2,500 individuals participated in the previous edition.
Neighborhoods for Employment
The Employment Fair ’10 years attracting talent’ will feature participation from all neighbourhood entities involved in employment, including Together Stronger-Red Cross, Caritas, Don Bosco Foundation, FGull, Sinpromi, and Feded, as well as over 80 companies seeking their future employees.
Participants will also have access to a range of services, activities, and presentations aimed at nurturing their personal and professional development.
This year’s Fair is particularly significant as it coincides with the tenth anniversary of the ‘Barrios for Employment: Together Stronger’ programme, an initiative aligned with the ‘Canarian Sustainable Development Agenda 2030’, forming part of the Strategic Framework of Insular Development (Media) from the Cabildo de Tenerife and co-funded by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN).
The programme focuses on providing training for unemployed individuals, fostering relationships and mediation efforts to create alliances with companies for job opportunities, enhancing collaboration with the participating entities, and tailoring project actions to the territorial context, improving employability for especially vulnerable groups while raising awareness about the actions and results among the general public.
Efraín Medina highlighted that the ‘Barrios for Employment: Together Stronger’ programme has recently received recognition from the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030 with the award ‘Activists for the Future: A Better Spain with the 2030 Agenda.’
This accolade was awarded in the category that acknowledges efforts against social exclusion and inequalities in all its forms, recognising initiatives that work towards eradicating poverty and reducing all types of inequalities.
