Santa Cruz de Tenerife 10 Mar. (Europa Press) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife is set to launch a grant programme with a budget of 900,000 euros (potentially increasing to 1,100,000 euros) aimed at reinforcing the industrial sector, enhancing its competitiveness, modernising infrastructure, and promoting sustainability, as revealed by the Minister of Industry, Manuel Fernández.

Fernández notes in a statement that “this year, the Ministry of Industry has tripled the financial allocation for this grant programme while maintaining the maximum amount per recipient at 30,000 euros, in order to solidify our commitment at the start of this term to encourage investments in sustainability, digitalisation, and industrial modernisation.”

Furthermore, some of the new features for this year include the broadening of eligible sectors, incorporating installation firms and the recycling industry, advancing sustainability through waste reduction and renewable energy use, supporting industrial digitalisation, and generating employment, with a focus on self-employed individuals, SMEs, as well as initiatives led by young people, women, and individuals with disabilities.

The aid will target industrial, self-employed, and cooperative enterprises, covering key areas such as the enhancement of production processes and distribution, digitalisation, the promotion of the circular economy, and energy efficiency.

Consequently, among the eligible expenditures are the acquisition of industrial machinery, digital management systems, energy efficiency tools, installation of solar panels, electric vehicle charging points, and renovations in production infrastructure.

Manuel Fernández emphasises that this aid programme reaffirms the “commitment” to the island’s industrial base by providing increased funding and support to ensure that the industrial sector remains a cornerstone of economic growth in Tenerife, positively affecting employment and the environment.

This initiative, as the counsellor explains, “is part of the Canarian Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 and aligns with the European Union’s guidelines on innovation and digital transformation.”
