Opposition Parties Unite for Motion of Censure Against Granadilla’s PSOE Mayor Jennifer Miranda

The Canarian coalition, Partido Popular (PP) and Vox have endorsed a motion of no confidence against the mayor of Granadilla de Abona, Jennifer Miranda, of the PSOE. It is scheduled to be submitted to the City Council this Wednesday. This was reported by the newspaper The day, which reveals that the agreement was formalised at the headquarters of the Canarian government presidency in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Should the motion be successful, a new municipal administration would emerge comprising 10 CC councillors, two from Vox, and one from the PP, while the other PP mayor has excluded the possibility of joining the agreement. This individual is María Bianca Cerbán Hernández, the third deputy mayor and Councillor for Hiring, Employment, and Local Development.

Through this motion, these three parties could potentially govern by overcoming the absolute majority, thereby reinstating mayor José Domingo Regalado (CC).

Once again, CC appears to disregard its purported red line against collaborating with the ultra-right party Vox—a scenario that has already unfolded since late January in another southern Tenerife municipality: Arona.

If the motion is ultimately successful, Vox will have successfully entered its second municipal government within the Canary Islands. Until now, it has only managed this in one of the 88 municipalities across the islands, also in this instance alongside CC and PP.
