The Arona Local Police called upon the public for assistance on Sunday to elucidate the circumstances surrounding an incident that transpired on Friday evening, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., when a minor riding a skateboard was struck by a car while attempting to cross Boulevard Chajofe avenue.
Witnesses reported that the individual allegedly responsible for the incident was in a light blue or similar vehicle. As a consequence of this incident, the 14-year-old child is currently hospitalised with serious injuries, as stated by the Council in an official communication.
According to the provided information, the driver of the involved vehicle left the scene at full speed immediately after the child was struck, without offering any aid to the victim.
The Arona Local Police is investigating the details of this accident, prioritising the identification of the individual accountable for this incident. Consequently, officials from the City Council are appealing for any information that could assist in clarifying the circumstances, as well as locating the vehicle involved, which may still bear signs of the incident.
