Santa Cruz de Tenerife 9 Mar. (Europa Press) –
Maritime rescue services escorted two Cayucos into port on Saturday evening, with a total of 142 individuals on board, all originating from sub-Saharan Africa, as reported by the national agency.
Thus, at approximately 6:20 p.m., the initial alert was received. The Civil Guard identified a Cayuco situated 5 miles off La Restinga, in El Hierro.
Salvamar Adhara was dispatched to assist, and once the vessel was located, it was escorted to port, where 86 individuals disembarked.
Subsequently, at 9:30 p.m., the Civil Guard spotted another vessel. In this instance, the Cayuco was found 10 miles from Arguineguín, in Gran Canaria.
Salvamar Macondo tracked down this Cayuco and escorted it to port, where 56 individuals landed.
The arrival of these vessels brings the total to four Cayucos that were identified on this Saturday, which also reached the islands of Gran Canaria and El Hierro.
