The Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) has ordered the provisional detention, with bail set at 6,000 euros, for one of the individuals apprehended in connection with the death of a 30-year-old. This incident occurred in the early hours of last Tuesday during the Carnival celebrations in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The arrested individual will be subjected to an investigation for a charge of intent.
Isaac T., originally from Gran Canaria but residing in Lanzarote, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday upon being transferred to a hospital in Tenerife after sustaining a severe blow to the head, reportedly during a confrontation.
Initially, police apprehended one young man and subsequently a second individual, both of whom were presented to the Court of Guard in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. After designating both as under investigation, the court has referred the case to an instruction court.
The incidents occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday near Maritime Avenues and Francisco La Roche, where the young man experienced a cardiorespiratory arrest during transportation to the hospital and was unable to be resuscitated.
According to local media reports, the deceased was employed in the hospitality industry in Lanzarote and had travelled with a group of friends to partake in the Carnival festivities in the capital of Tenerife.
The second individual detained in connection to this death will face charges for causing injury and has been placed in provisional detention, as stated by the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands.
