Bond Set for One Arrested in Tenerife Carnival Death Case

One of the two individuals taken into custody for the death of a 30-year-old during the Carnival festivities in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the early hours of Tuesday has been released after securing a bail of €6,000 imposed by a court to prevent provisional imprisonment.

This information has been confirmed to Efe by the lawyer of the young man, Javier Santana, whose client is under investigation for homicide, while the second individual arrested in connection with this incident has been granted provisional release, related to a charge of bodily harm, according to the Superior Court of the Canary Islands.

The first detainee, a 19-year-old, has been subjected to precautionary measures including the surrender of his passport and the requirement to appear in court every two weeks.

Isaac T., originally from Gran Canaria but residing in Lanzarote, tragically passed away in the early hours of Tuesday after being transported to a hospital in Tenerife, having sustained a severe head injury during a fight.

Police initially apprehended one young man before detaining a second individual, both of whom were presented to the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Court. After declaring them as under investigation, the case has been forwarded to an instruction court.

The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday near Maritime Avenues and Francisco La Roche, where the young man experienced cardiac arrest during the journey to the hospital, from which he could not be revived.

According to local media reports, the deceased was employed in the hospitality industry in Lanzarote and had come with a group of friends to partake in the Carnival celebrations in the capital of Tenerife.
