Santa Cruz de Tenerife 6 Mar. (Europa Press) –
The 19-year-old from Gran Canaria, who is under investigation for homicide due to possible fraud following the death of another individual aged 30 during the early hours of ‘Carnival Monday’ in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, has been released after his family paid the court-imposed bond of €6,000, as confirmed to Europa Press by sources close to the case.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office had sought provisional detention without bail, and alternatively, the possibility of provisional imprisonment, but ultimately his family connections and the absence of prior convictions were taken into consideration, according to the TSJC Communication Office.
Precautionary measures have also been established, including the confiscation of his passport and a requirement to report to the Court every fortnight, while investigations continue, now being conducted by the Court of Instruction number 5 in the capital of Tenerife.
Additionally, there is a second individual alleged to be involved in the incident who, after being apprehended, is being investigated for a crime of assault and is currently in provisional custody.
