Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 6 Mar. (Europa Press) –
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, has acknowledged today that there will be a “review” of the sponsorship of CD Tenerife if the drop in category occurs, whilst simultaneously assuring that the corporation will be “alongside the club.”
During a press conference to discuss the decisions made by the Governing Council, she stated that it is “only logical” as the terms of the contract cannot be fulfilled if the team is not competing in professional football or the island’s brand does not generate the same tourist appeal.
Nevertheless, she mentioned that “the primary step is to proceed with caution” as the sports situation is “complex,” and discussions will need to take place with the tourism sector and the team’s leaders to outline the future of collaboration and sponsorship.
“We continue to light candles to all saints to keep our category,” she remarked.
The president also acknowledged the delays in the renovation works of Heliodoro Rodríguez López, which were scheduled for this year due to its centenary, and announced that there will be a meeting next week with Gestur to evaluate the progress of the Master Plan, which has been held up due to a legal challenge.
