The Cabildo de Tenerife has terminated the Insular Emergency Plan of Tenerife (PIN) following the conclusion of the pre-alert for rain and snowfall issued by the Canary Islands government. Nevertheless, the access routes to Teide for Hope (TF-24) and La Orotava (TF-21) remain closed.
Conversely, the TF-38 (Chío) road leading to the Teide National Park remains open; however, traffic is restricted on the paths leading to the peak and on the forest tracks impacted by the 2023 fire.
Federated mountaineers and accredited official tourist guides are permitted to access these paths provided they possess the necessary basic winter gear (technical clothing, crampons, and ice axe) and have submitted a responsible declaration along with the appropriate authorisation through the Tenerife On website and application.
In a statement, the island’s councillor for the natural environment, sustainability, and safety and emergencies, Blanca Pérez, has indicated that the road service is continuing its efforts on TF-21 and TF-24 to clear ice sheets, with the objective of reopening these routes throughout Wednesday.
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, urges the public to take extreme precautions on the roads, obey safety regulations, and heed the instructions of authorities.
