The Cabildo de Tenerife has resumed traffic on the TF-24 (La Esperanza) and TF-21 (La Orotava) roads following the removal of ice plates from the roadway.
Consequently, all access routes to Teide National Park—the southern entrance via the TF-38—have been operational since Tuesday; however, caution is advised when travelling along these roads.
The Cabildo also lifted the Insular Emergency Plan for Tenerife (Pein) on Wednesday morning after concluding the prealert status regarding rainfall and snowfall issued by the Canary Islands Government. Nonetheless, the insular authority maintains a ban on traversing the paths within Teide National Park that lead to the peak, as well as the forest trails impacted by the 2023 fire, in order to ensure public safety.
As such, access is prohibited on paths 7: White Mountain-Pico Teide, the segment between the summit of White Mountain and the junction of paths 7 and 11 at the Fortress viewpoint; path 9, Teide-Pico Viejo-Carretera TF-38, from the junction with path 38 (black caves) to its connection with path 12 (Mirador de Pico Viejo); on path 10, Bravo Telesforo; path 11, Fortress viewpoint; path 12, Pico Viejo viewpoint; path 23, Black Regatones; and path 28, Chafarí.
These restrictions will apply to the general public, though federated mountaineers and licensed official tour guides may access the paths provided they possess the essential winter gear (technical attire, crampons, and piolet) and have completed a responsible declaration alongside the requisite authorisation via the website and app Tenerife on (https://www.nertifeon.es).
