A 30-year-old individual has tragically passed away on Tuesday due to head trauma, allegedly sustained during a scuffle on the night of the Carnival in the capital of Tenerife. The suspected perpetrator has been apprehended, as stated by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council.
It appears the young man became involved in a confrontation near Maritime and Francisco La Roche avenues at approximately 5:00 on Tuesday and succumbed while being transported to the University Hospital of Our Lady of the Candelaria (Hunsc).
Residing in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, he suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest en route to the hospital, from which he could not be revived.
Officers from the Police Intervention Unit (UIP) of the National Police, who were assigned to that section of the carnival area, were the first to respond upon learning that a brawl was underway.
Upon recognising the seriousness of the injuries, the advanced command post (PMA) informed both the rapid intervention vehicle and the medical ambulance of the Spanish Red Cross, which were part of the carnival’s medical response team.
The young man received medical attention from health professionals situated next to the booth of the Tenerife Fire Consortium in the Alameda of the Duke of Santa Elena.
According to gathered information, National Police officers have detained the individual believed to be responsible for the incident and have initiated the necessary procedures to present the detainee at court.
