Santa Cruz de Tenerife 4 Mar. (Europa Press) –
A 30-year-old man residing in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria tragically lost his life in the early hours of Tuesday following an altercation on the seaside avenue of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The individual believed to be responsible for the incident has since been apprehended, as stated by the local council in an official announcement.
The incident took place around 05:00, in the vicinity of the surface roadway between the Maritime Avenue and Francisco La Roche Avenue in Tenerife’s capital. Officers from the National Police’s Intervention Unit (UIP) were the first to arrive at the scene after reports of a brawl had been received.
Upon arrival, they discovered that the victim had sustained a severe cranial injury. Consequently, the advanced command post (PMA) was activated, along with a rapid intervention vehicle and a medicalised ambulance from the Spanish Red Cross, which were part of the carnival’s medical response team.
Medical personnel attended to him next to the Tenerife Fire Consortium’s booth in the Alameda of the Duke of Santa Elena. After stabilising and intubating him, he was transported by a specialised ambulance to the University Hospital of Our Lady of the Candelaria (Hunsc), where he suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest en route, from which he could not be revived.
In the meantime, agents from the National Police have arrested the alleged perpetrator of the incident and are conducting the necessary procedures to present the detainee before the court, as per the council’s indication.
