San Sebastián de la Gomera 2 Mar. (Europa Press) –
La Gomera will be attending a new edition of the ITB of Berlin starting next Tuesday, one of the premier fairs in the tourism sector, aimed at enhancing its foothold in the German market.
According to a press release from the Cabildo, the island will participate in this event under the banner of the Tourist Islands of the Canary Islands, featuring a space dedicated exclusively to La Gomera where sector professionals will be introduced to the assistance system the island employs to connect with travel agents, operators, and specialised media.
Here, the Insular Tourism Counsellor, María Isabel Méndez, described this initiative as “a sustainable, quick, and efficient method of catering to professionals interested in the destination, marking our first implementation at the ITB of Berlin.”
Consequently, the head of the department will lead the La Gomera delegation travelling to Berlin with the intent of enhancing the island’s image and establishing it as a premier destination for outdoor activities, alongside high-quality services and accommodation options.
Méndez reminded us that the German market “has always appreciated our unique qualities, thus remaining our primary source market, with strong loyalty after over forty years of connection to the island.”
Furthermore, during the course of the ITB in Berlin, the counsellor will engage in meetings with travel agents, tour operators, and specialised media to boost the destination’s visibility within the sector.
On their part, German tourists continue to select the Canary Islands as their holiday destination; in fact, last year, the tourist revenue reached 4,173 million euros, reflecting a 39% increase compared to 2019.
It is also noteworthy that the market is becoming less seasonal, with an increasing trend of tourists opting to travel during the summer months, rather than only in the winter season.
