The Local Police of La Laguna (Tenerife) has implemented the initial special security measures this morning in light of the upcoming carnival festivities, resulting in 21 citations to drivers for testing positive on the breathalyser.
According to the Town Council, 17 of these citations are administrative in nature, while four are subject to penalties (with an alcohol concentration in exhaled air exceeding 0.60 milligrams per litre).
The operation took place on the TF-180 road, at the junction with Cuesta de Piedra Street, in the La Cuesta neighbourhood, involving members of the Department of Attentive and those on the Ordinary Shift.
Additionally, officers issued five citations for positive drug use, one of which required a confirmatory blood test for validation of the findings.
Furthermore, five other infractions were recorded for various reasons pertaining to road safety: driving with an expired licence, exceeding the number of passengers, failing to pass the ITV, and lacking mandatory insurance coverage.
In conclusion, the Local Police of La Laguna removed a total of eleven vehicles to the municipal impound.
