Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 2 Mar. (Europa Press) –
This Sunday, maritime rescue intervened to escort a newly spotted Cayuco, carrying between 60 and 70 migrants, which was detected after midday, 2 miles from the port of La Restinga, in El Hierro, as reported by the national agency.
At 1:54 p.m., the Civil Guard identified a radar signal, indicating a potential Cayuco or Patera, at the mentioned distance. Consequently, the Maritime Rescue Centre in Tenerife dispatched the Salvamar Acrux, which reached the Cayuco at 2:10 p.m. and began to escort it to the harbour.
The discovery of this Cayuco follows two other vessels that were found in the early morning of the same day, carrying approximately 120 migrants, also in the waters surrounding the island.
