Civil Guard Uncovers Fake Smoking Coalition, Seizes Marijuana and Hashish in South Tenerife

The Civil Guard has announced the arrest of five individuals in southern Tenerife on suspicion of involvement in a crime against public health. This follows the seizure of 6.7 kilos of marijuana and 3.6 kilos of concealed hashish at purported smoking establishments.

This operation, referred to as Sunset Sport, has revealed that the leader of the association was previously apprehended for similar incidents in 2022, yet has persisted with these unlawful activities.

The inquiry commenced last year following the concerns raised by Civil Guard officers. They suspected that several venues, which falsely appeared to be legal under the Constitution of Cannabic Clubs, were in fact functioning for the unlawful sale of narcotic substances such as marijuana and hashish.

During the investigation, sufficient evidence was gathered to execute three searches of premises with similar characteristics—two in the town of San Isidro and one in Los Cristianos—resulting in the confiscation of drugs, along with €5,000 in cash and a vehicle.

The individuals detained, along with the seized substances, have been handed over to the Granadilla de Abona Court of Instruction.

This operation received support from the Local Police of Granadilla de Abona and the General Corps of the Canary Police.
