Santa Cruz de Tenerife 26 Feb. (Europa Press) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife unveiled on Wednesday the upgrades to its website (tenerife.es) and electronic headquarters (headquarters.tenerife.es), aiming to enhance services for citizens and manage “over 80,000 procedures received” each year.
“We receive nearly 400,000 visits annually to the web portal, and we sought to modernise it for contemporary needs,” stated José Miguel Ruano, the second vice president, in a press statement.
This redesign forms part of the 2024-2028 modernisation strategy, a plan designed to minimise bureaucracy and enhance citizen services through digital transformation, as outlined by the Cabildo.
The institution emphasises that the website and electronic headquarters serve as the gateway to various public services, from applications for subsidies to licensing processes. Their update will significantly improve the relationship between citizens and the government.
As such, digitalisation “not only enhances the council’s efficiency but also cuts costs, facilitates access to information, and spares citizens from needing to appear in person for procedures,” remarked Candelaria Padrón, the Minister for Citizen Attention and Service Quality.
Key enhancements include a new search engine, a more intuitive content organisation, and the potential for future integration of additional digital services from the Cabildo. The “intuitive and adaptable” design enables use on any device, allowing users to complete procedures in fewer steps, check real-time files, and receive immediate notifications, thereby avoiding unnecessary travel.
The Tenerife council highlights that the new platforms, representing an investment of approximately one million euros, mark a significant move towards “streamlining management” of procedures and “enhancing the user experience.”
Consequently, there will be quicker file handling, simplified processes, and more intuitive access to information, along with real-time notifications, greater accessibility, and improved navigation.
Intranet
The Cabildo Tenerife has asserted that the enhancement of its internal communication and collaboration is ongoing, with improvements geared towards staff care being realised via a new corporate intranet.
This initiative aims to address the needs expressed by staff during recent participatory processes, contributing to the approval of strategic documents such as the current 2024-2028 modernisation strategy.
The institution reports that implementing the new Intranet necessitated nearly two years of work, during which a comprehensive action plan was developed and executed, resulting in significant “advancements” in usability, accessibility, and functionality.
