Santa Cruz de Tenerife 19 Feb. (Europa Press) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has approved a landscape regeneration and road safety project on the TF-1 this Wednesday, with an investment of €3.3 million and a timeframe of eight months for execution.
This initiative will take place on the slopes near Mercatenerife, along the right side heading south, in the section between Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the connection with MercadoFef, as detailed in a statement by the island’s president, Rosa Dávila.
“This intervention is crucial to prevent debris from falling onto the TF-1 and TF-4, two roads that see tens of thousands of vehicles each day. The stabilisation of the slopes aims to avoid landslides and enhance road safety, minimising risks for both drivers and passengers,” she remarked.
The landscape enhancement, according to Dávila, encompasses an area of around 60,000 square metres at a key location. Therefore, it represents the “first impression” that users approaching Santa Cruz de Tenerife from the south receive, which is why the project aims to provide a more appealing visual outcome.
The president noted that the current state of the area is evidently “very degraded” due to the presence of invasive species and debris. She expressed that working in this area will not be straightforward, as nearly half of the intervention surface is characterised by a challenging 60% unevenness.
