Santa Cruz de Tenerife 18 Feb. (Europa Press) –
The Court of Violence Against Women number 1 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has decided on Tuesday not to accept the extension of the complaint lodged by the ex-partner of Rayco García, the second largest shareholder of CD Tenerife, for alleged psychological harm. While awaiting a conclusive resolution, he is still being investigated for an alleged act of coercion related to gender violence.
On his third appearance before the presiding judge on Tuesday, García stated to journalists as he left the Palace of Justice that the entire situation has been very “unfortunate,” particularly at this current time—with an Extraordinary General Meeting approaching where he intended to stand for the presidency of the club.
He acknowledged that the circumstances are causing significant distress, not only for himself but also for his family and the club, noting that the complaint has arisen in recent days due to a “spurious interest” which he plans to address in an upcoming press conference.
His lawyer, Antonio Porro, announced that they have requested the dismissal and closure of the proceedings, arguing that “there is no indication of any crime.”
He expressed confidence in the justice system and gratitude to the authorities for their work “in accordance with the law,” emphasising that it is “very unfortunate” for judicial resources to be exploited for “spurious interests.”
