This evening at 6:00 p.m., the fairground will host the gala for the selection of the Children’s Queen of the Carnival of Santa Cruz. The event features 13 contenders vying to become the inaugural monarch of the festivities, promising an entertaining show for the entire family. Javier Caraballero, the councillor for Fiestas, and show director Daniel Pagés, assure that various surprises will unfold on stage, along with collaborative performances from choreographic groups and several comparsas.

Jorge and Sergio will serve as hosts, returning to lead the gala, and this year they have a new quest: to locate Rafa and Garrafa, the two giraffes that accompanied them in the previous edition. To complete this task, they will embark on a journey to Africa, aiming to retrieve their friends for the Carnival of Tenerife. Throughout their adventure, unexpected surprises and learnings will reveal that the journey itself holds greater significance than the destination. This narrative will unfold like a story, imparting lessons and values to all the children until they reach the conclusion, where they discover that they didn’t need Rafa and Garrafa after all but rather the belief in themselves as they embark on this transformative journey.

The candidates’ presentations will be organised into three segments, with performances from the Tropicana and Joroperos children’s choreographic groups providing entertainment between each segment.

The panel of judges will consist of Teresa de Jesús Jerónimo, a music lecturer at the Conservatory; Juana María Brito de León, Director of the Good Morning Information Programme from Televisión Canaria; Nuria Bilbao, an art historian with a focus on carnival; Sobeida Gómez, a model, actress, choreographer, and dancer; Teresa Hernández, a textile and preparation technician; Inés Herrera, coordinator of the Sastrería Department at the Auditorio; and Aron Morales, the creator of the Carnival poster for 2024. The event will be broadcast live by Televisión Canaria across the archipelago, allowing the audience to vote for their favourite candidate by calling 922 111 111.
