The Cabildo de Tenerife has decided to transfer ownership of the La Laguna locality to the City Council, granting free control of the property Cine Unión Tejina along with the local garage adjacent to it and the unused plot located behind it.
This Sunday, José Carlos Acha, the Minister of Culture and Museums of Tenerife, announced that the use of the facility has previously been granted on a temporary basis for the City Council to conduct cultural activities at the cinema.
José Carlos Acha indicated that the Cabildo has contributed €2,639,995 to enhance the artistic venue of Cine Unión Tejina, alongside the acquisition of the land for €90,750 and an additional €245,808 for its equipment.
The Minister further stated that this venue has historically operated as a vital Cultural Hub for Tejina and the wider area, serving as a significant landmark of cultural engagement fostered by local residents and the organisations that utilise it for their cultural functions.
“With this allocation, we streamline the management of the property from an administrative perspective, consolidating under a single local administration—the City Council of La Laguna, the Management Administration, and the Owner Administration,” he asserted.
He also noted that the island council plans to carry out improvements to the infrastructure, and subsequently, the City Council of La Laguna may request its inclusion in the Insular Plan for Cultural Infrastructure to undertake further significant developments.
