The second largest shareholder of CD Tenerife asserts that the statement was “well” and that he fears “nothing.”
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 14th February (Europa Press) –
Rayco García, the second largest shareholder of CD Tenerife, testified for several hours this Friday for the second time before the Gender Violence Court number 1 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, being investigated for an alleged offence of coercion in the context of gender violence.
The court has opted not to impose any precautionary measures and has upheld García’s provisional freedom, as per a report from the TSJC Communication Office.
García exited the Palace of Justice around 4:00 p.m. (he had arrived at 09:00) accompanied by a group and merely stated to journalists that he feels calm despite the judicial inquiry.
“I fear nothing, I have won,” he declared as he entered a vehicle that was waiting to pick him up amidst reprimands from the group of journalists present at the exit.
His solicitor, Antonio Porro, expressed his “delight” regarding the dismissal of precautionary measures, as reported by ‘Radio Club Tenerife’ and ‘Antena 3,’ noting that the case has gained a “media” dimension.
He emphasised that his client is defending “with the truth” and with the hope that this will lead to a resolution of the judicial matter and that “parallel judgements” are not formed, which he believes is “what is intended” by certain interested individuals.
He criticised that “something is not being carried out in accordance with good faith and the norms required by Spanish law,” referring to leaks regarding the case, while insisting that the focus should remain solely on the judicial process.
“Mr García merely wishes to adhere to what justice requires of him, and further explanations should not be given; the explanations are provided where they need to be, in the courts,” he stated.
García, who aims to assume the club’s presidency at the upcoming extraordinary board meeting, was detained last Wednesday afternoon by the National Police following a complaint lodged by his ex-partner, who is the granddaughter of another shareholder and former vice president of CD Tenerife.
The complaint alleges that the incidents occurred between April and May of last year when García was in a romantic relationship while the alleged victim was pregnant.
Following that period, she reportedly faced pressure and threats from García regarding an abortion, which she initially refused at a clinic in Madrid.
During one of their arguments, García even suggested the possibility of terminating the pregnancy in Saudi Arabia, due to contacts he has from his work in the football industry as an international agent and sporting events organiser.
He also threatened the young woman’s mother, and ultimately, an abortion took place at a clinic in Tenerife against the young woman’s wishes and out of fear of his threats.
