Residents of the Santacrucero Barrio Salamanca are expressing their frustration with a neighbour who, for years, has used his balcony each day to clean up the faeces and urine of his dog. The waste directly lands on the pavement of Diego Corcosa Street, the thoroughfare that borders their building located at the junction of Bishop Pérez Cáceres Street. “Apart from the unpleasant odour and the swarms of flies, it is impossible to walk here,” complain the residents of the property.
The neighbours assert that they have reported the situation to the City Council, “but they direct us to the Local Police, and in the meantime, neither they nor the municipal cleaners pay any attention to us. The pavement not only smells terrible, but it has also turned black and is becoming a significant health hazard,” they declare.
Those affected have requested the assistance of the La Arboleda neighbourhood association to seek a swift resolution. “It’s unacceptable for this neighbour to disregard community standards, and worse still, no one is taking action. Even the nearby gardens are suffering due to these dog messes. We can hardly leave our homes because, in addition, the pavement out front, adjacent to the Zurita bridge, has unhealthy jacarandas whose sap falls, and without cleaning, it sticks everywhere.”
