The Civil Guard has apprehended six individuals and is investigating another in an operation that has seized 53 bales of hashish weighing 2,075 kilos from a boat off the coast of Garachico, situated in the northwest of Tenerife.
The operation was initiated following the exchange of information between the Civil Guard and the General Directorate of Surveillance on Moroccan territory (DGST), which indicated the potential arrival of a vessel on the shores of Tenerife carrying a substantial quantity of drugs, as reported by the Benemérita on Thursday.
Consequently, the agents conducted an operation along the Coast of Tenerife and confirmed that at a location known as El Guincho Beach, six individuals were unloading bales from a semi-rigid boat.
At that moment, all individuals were apprehended and the drugs were confiscated.
According to the Civil Guard, at the time of the operation, four of the detainees were unloading the bales from the inflatable vessel, while two acted as the boat’s navigators.
The detainees are charged with alleged offences against public health and membership in a criminal organisation.
Furthermore, five mobile phones and various documents have also been seized.
The operation was carried out by agents from the Organic Unit of Judicial Police, Fiscal Section and Borders, Citizen Security, Provincial Maritime Service, and the Traffic Association.
The detainees, along with the collected evidence, have been presented to the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 1 of the ICOD of the wines.
